Liberal Studies (BA)
Description
At Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±, the Bachelor of Arts program in Liberal Studies is a degree completion program. Like all of our academic programs, our goal is to produce graduates who can think critically and communicate effectively to succeed in an increasingly diverse society. This program is very individualized based on each student's areas of prior study and has the potential to encompass many disciplines from the humanities to the sciences.
To obtain this undergraduate degree, the student must fulfill the requirements of the University Core Curriculum, the requirements for the program and complete a minimum of 120 credit hours. The program requires students to complete two areas of focus that are 21 credits each, for a total of 42 credits. At least half of the courses in each focus area must be from Detroit Mercy. In addition, nine credits in each focus area must be at the 3000/4000 levels.
Admission to this program is only open to senior-level students who are unable to complete a traditional major due to special circumstances. An academic completion plan and approval from the College of Liberal Arts & Education Dean’s Office are required prior to being approved for admission.
