Gamlin, Carmen
Carmen Gamlin
Director and Advisor of Pre-Health Programs, is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 30 years of experience helping students and community members. She specializes in career services for veterans, persons with disabilities and underrepresented students pursuing STEM fields including Engineering and Healthcare. Since 2008, she launched 4 new career service offices in academic departments. She is active in the professional development of advisors of the Health Professions in the region through DEI workshops, technology and mentoring. She earned a Bachelor's with majors in both Psychology & Sociology and a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling all at Michigan State University.
Garcia, Elena
Elena Garcia
Assistant Professor of English and Writing Program Director, teaches College Writing and Academic Writing. Garcia is a Michigan native who holds a doctorate from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English Education from Western Michigan University. Having taught for nine years at Utah Valley University, Garcia is dedicated to guiding students through their introduction to the nuances of academic writing. Her research focuses on teaching writing, workplace writing with a focus on writing in factories, and Writing Center studies. Garcia joined the University in 2022.
Geist, James R.
James R. Geist
Professor, Division of Integrated Biomedical Sciences, Director of Oral Maxillofacial Imaging Center, teaches courses in radiology, oral pathology, and general pathology to students in the Dental, Dental Hygiene, and post-doctoral programs. He also serves as director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Imaging Center at the University. Dr. Geist has published over 40 peer-reviewed research articles on topics including the diagnostic efficacy of various imaging systems and educational methodology in radiology and pathology. He has presented his research findings at professional meetings in North America, Europe, and Asia. He is a past president of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Dr. Geist has received the award for outstanding didactic or clinical faculty member 19 times. He holds a B.A. degree from Northwestern University, a D.D.S. degree from the University of Illinois, and an M.S. degree in Oral Pathology from Indiana University. He joined the University in 1986.

Shin-Mey Rose Geist
Associate Professor, teaches courses in Radiology, Oral Pathology, and General Pathology to students in the dental, dental hygiene, and post-doctoral programs. He also serves as director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Imaging Center. Dr. Geist is a past president of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. He currently serves as editor of the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology section of the journal Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Pathology Oral Radiology. Prof. Geist has received the award for outstanding didactic or clinical faculty member 19 times. He joined the university in 1986.
Geragosian, Eleni
Eleni Geragosian
Lecturer of Chemistry and Biochemistry, teaches general and organic chemistry lecture and laboratories. Geragosian came to the University after completion of her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, where she completed research in chemistry education focused on chemistry instructors' development of teaching knowledge and skills. Geragosian holds a B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from University of Michigan. She joined the University in 2022.

Assistant Professor, McAuley School of Nursing, teaches in the undergraduate program. As a nationally certified adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist, she focuses on fundamentals, simulation, and transition to practice. She earned her B.S.N, M.S.N, and D.N.P, from the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±.

Cindy A. Gillham
Associate Librarian, Public Services, McNichols Campus Library, is responsible for delivery of reference services and teaching research skill classes. Her assigned collection development fields include biology/clinical science, chemistry and biochemistry, physics, philosophy, language & culture, philosophy and history, as well as the provision of reference services and research skills instruction. She holds a B.A. degree from Oakland University, and a M.I.L.S. from the University of Michigan. She joined the University in 1988.

Clinical Associate Professor, Director Master’s Entry Advanced Generalist Program, McAuley School of Nursing, is a practicing Certified Nurse Midwife, earned her DNP from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±, MS in midwifery from the University of Illinois-Chicago, and BSN from Mercy College of Detroit. She joined the College of Health Professions/McAuley School of Nursing in 2007.

Assistant Professor, McAuley School of Nursing. Dr. Gofan began her career with the McAuley School of Nursing/College of Health Professions in 2018. Her clinical experience as a registered nurse includes Medical, Surgical, and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care. As a nurse practitioner, Dr. Gofan’s clinical practice experience includes a Hospitalist role for Internal Medicine at Karmanos Cancer Institute. Current scholarship focuses on the strong empirical support that telling aspects of one’s life story has positive emotional and physical health effects. Surprisingly, limited research has been conducted on the effects of telling a cancer survivors' story through the eyes of African American women diagnosed with Breast Cancer. This two-part (cross-sectional and longitudinal) project will assess the emotional health effects of African America females telling their cancer survivor story.
Goike, Alyssa
Alyssa Goike
Adjunct Instructor, Office of Educational Development and Assessment. Ms. Goike graduated from the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. She joined the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± School of Dentistry as an adjunct dental hygiene faculty member in 2015. She served as the dental hygiene competency advisor for the dental hygiene classes of 2016-2018. Currently, she is responsible for e-portfolio implementation, instruction, and assistance for both dental and dental hygiene students. Since 2018, she has coordinated the faculty inservice scheduling and registrations, and she has assisted with the implementation, coordination and training of the Campus Labs software used for the School of Dentistry's Strategic Plan and Outcomes assessment for CODA accreditation. Additionally, Ms. Goike has also been support faculty for the second year dental hygiene Board Review courses since 2017.
Grabowski, Gregory
Gregory M. Grabowski
Professor of Biology, teaches physiology, pathophysiology and human anatomy. Grabowski came to the University after completion of his post-doctoral training at Harvard’s School of Public Health, where he began his research on pulmonary inflammation induced by metal containing particles in industrial settings. He was awarded National Institute of Health and Center for Indoor Air fellowships to fund his postdoctoral training, as well as Slocum-Lunz fellowships to fund his graduate studies. Grabowski holds a B.A. from Canisius College, M.S. from the University of Charleston, and Ph.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina. He joined the University in 1996.
Graves, James F.
James F. Graves
Associate Professor of Biology, teaches general microbiology and pathogenic microbiology. Graves’ publications and presentations have dealt with microbiology, public health, and the environment. His laboratory work focuses on antibiotic resistance, pathogenesis, biodegradation, and bioenergy. This research has been supported by grants from the Federal Government and private industry. He is member of the Michigan Academy, Council on Undergraduate Research, and the American Society for Microbiology. He was a research scientist at Indiana University, research associate at the University of Virginia, and a postdoctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina. Graves holds B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Missouri. He joined the University in 1987.
Greene, Harold H.
Harold H. Greene
Professor of Psychology, teaches perceptual/cognitive psychology, statistics, research methods, learning and memory and cross-cultural psychology. Greene's research program is set up to determine functional limitations and asymmetries in human visual attention processes. Experiments conducted in his laboratory utilize eye-tracking, electroencephalography (EEG/ERP) and Galvanic skin response (GSR) technology. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Queen's University, Canada, and a Master of Science and a doctorate in Cognitive/Experimental Psychology from University of Georgia. Greene held research fellowships at the Center of Excellence for Research on Training (CERT) in Atlanta and at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He joined the University in 1999.
Grey, Felicia
Felicia Grey
Assistant Professor of Political Science, and trained educator, political economist and trade law specialist. Grey is the author of the book, States and Non-participatory Memberships at the WTO and several peer-reviewed articles which have been published in the Journal of International Dispute Settlement, the International Trade Journal and Digest of Middle East Studies. She is a recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, which include the Fulbright Graduate scholarship from the U.S. Department of State and the Governor General Youth Award for Excellence in Academics and Volunteerism in Jamaica.
Grobis, Greg
Greg Grobis
Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education in the College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences (CHASS) and Managing Director of the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company (DMTC). Grobis is a distinguished academic leader known for his commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and high-impact learning. With a rich teaching history in various subjects, including Theatre for Social Change and Principles of Arts Management, Grobis has been instrumental in developing immersive courses and has extended his expertise to a wide range of subjects. Serving as chair of the Department of Performing Arts five years beginning in 2018, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and a collaborative spirit, contributing to interdisciplinary studies and various University committees. At DMTC, he has mentored theatre students and directed more than 125 productions, including award-winning shows. Grobis’ commitment extends beyond academia, evident in his involvement with social causes like Make-A-Wish Michigan. His dedication was recognized with the University's Agere ex Missione Award in 2021. Joining Detroit Mercy in 2008 and appointed as associate dean in July 2023, Grobis continues to be a vital asset to the University with his passionate and inclusive approach to education.
Gupta, Aman
Aman Gupta
Assistant Professor, teaches Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics to dental, dental hygiene and physician assistant students. She also guides dental students in their patient medication history reviews. Her interests are keeping students informed of current and new drug information and facilitating interdisciplinary communication. Prof. Gupta holds an M.D. with a specialty in pharmacology and has done additional training on rehabilitation and management of musculoskeletal disorders. She joined the university in 2017.

Dincer Gurun
Clinical Associate Professor and Clinic Director, currently serves as director of the Division of Clinical dentistry, overseeing the Group Practice Model for dental and dental hygiene students. He earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine and prosthodontic training at the University of Istanbul, Turkey. He completed a fellowship program in Prosthodontics and earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of Florida. He joined the university in 2001.
