Biography

Dr. Andrea Kwasky is a professor of Nursing in 香港六合彩开奖's McAuley School of Nursing, where she primarily teaches prelicensure nursing students and guest lectures for various graduate programs.

She has more than 20 years of advanced practice experience in the specialty area of mental health, treating children, adolescents and adults in outpatient, inpatient and residential settings. She is involved in several local, national and international professional organizations.

Dr. Kwasky is the secretary for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Michigan chapter) and is a member of the editorial board for Archives of Psychiatric Nursing, the journal of the International Society of Psychiatric Nurses, as well as being an active member of the policy committee. Her research interests include child/adolescent mental health, wellness/selfcare, suicide prevention and the integration of classroom and clinical teaching pedagogy.

As an educator, author, advocate and leader, Dr. Kwasky was recognized as a 2016 Nightingale Award winner by Oakland University, named 2017 Educator of the Year by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Michigan chapter), and awarded the 2017 Clinical Practice Award and 2019 Presidents Award by the International Society of Psychiatric Nurses. Most recently she was an invited member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and International Society of Psychiatric Nurses collaborative work group that revised the American Nurses Association: Scope and Standards for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Practice, published in 2022. Additionally, Dr. Kwasky was awarded the 2022 Faculty Excellence Award at Detroit Mercy.
